Oh boy. I'm not even going to get into this. Plenty of other forum members will offer advice.
I will say pit bulls should NOT be human aggressive, you need to contact a behaviorist IMMEDIATELY and you may have to do the responsible thing, now especially with the lawsuit coming, and have the dog put down. |

This is sticky... that dog should have never been allowed to be near a person that he didnd't know, and he bit her... could have been out of fear from not knowing her, could be agression, but if you havent' seen it before, it sounds unlikely.
Id' take the dog for a completely once over from my vet, then maybe get a second opinion to back up that first one from the vet check with your vet... then I'g get a behaviorist, and I'd get anyone that has ever dealt with the dog to write a letter, submit pictures, of this dog laying with your kids, being friendly... have the behaviorist evaluate him and then just go from there. Best of luck to you ... unfortunately, it doesn't look good,.,.... Ambulance chasers are a dime a dozen and they had that law degree under their belt, and the bad ones, know how to use it to their disadvantage. ..

How severe was the bite? How did you deal with the situation at the time? |

Wow, that is a huge amount they are demanding for a "bite."
I agree more detail is needed ... but someone saying you should contact a behaviorist and you may need to do the responsible thing is NOT a "negative comment." I am really sorry you are in this position but you gotta be willing to listen if you really want some good advice. If you are willing to take the chip off the shoulder you WILL find just that here

Did you somehow support your friend, morally, financially? I'm saying to contact the lawyer because they would know the laws better than you. Some places are mor linient if the dog has attacked a person on the owner's property. What was the sitation? Could the bite have been provoked? I agree with Mollie's Nana that you should get everyone's opinion, from behaviorists to vets, but also from lawyers?

Bud's been evaluated by the local vet, he can't seem to find anything wrong with him. He was 2 at the time when this happened. After the fact i called her everyday and asked her if she was okay, if there was anything she needed, so on. Then one day we were out playing in the yard my boyfriend and Bud and I and the sherriff came up and delivered us papers saying we were getting sued. She never again answered my phone calls or my text messages. I just don't understand how this happened. He is such a good boy wouldn't hurt a fly... Everyone that has ever met Bud has had nothing but good things to say about him. There are many pictures of Bud and my two young nephews I will show in court. I have spoken to many lawyers and have paid for their time, I've done all I can do but all lawyers I speak with won't take payments they need cash up front at least a thousand dollars which I do not have. Thank you all for your support and good advice. I guess I'll just keep on trucking and try to find a lawyer willing to except payment rather than a lump some.

the girl was intoxicated at the time. I was not home my boyfriend was he told her to wait outside. The toilet started leaking and he went in to fix it into the bathroom, he heard the door open and then he heard one of the dogs come in from the back door. A few seconds later the girl said, rob he bit me. At first she was saying no no nothing happened he just jumped up, saying things like she didn't want anything to happen it was an accident, we talked every day after this, Bud was quarantined for 12 days for evaluation. After the fact, we were served papers saying we were getting sued. Shes suing for mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, pain and suffering, she wants plastic surgery, even though if you look you cant see a scar. The hospital bill was less than 2 thousand dollars. the only conclusion we have came up with is that he saw her in our house alone in the dark and was in his mind defending his territory. she had met bud a couple of times briefly but there was not much interaction between the two.nI just don't know how this happened.
