If you had to judge your "pit"...?

Pedigree/Rescue/Mix...doesn't matter. If you had to pick out 3 faults and 3 strong points...What would they be in the conformation ring with APBTs'.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...Zenasear-1.jpg

Diesels Faults (by standards)...
1) Light Eyes (but I love them)
2) Dewlap under the neck
3) Tail extends 1/2" beyond hocks

Diesels Strengths...
1) Disposition/Attitude
2) Overall Proportions
3) Rear Hindquarters

is my pup to young to see its faults and strengths?

Nah, this is for fun...they do have puppy classes. There are no wrong or right answers...Personally, I want to see Michele and her "PitChahua"

gDGwm8BC 07-25-2008 04:43 PM

do you think mine would look like a good looking pit when she is full grown? whats the dewlap?

Faults: Rear alittle to high-however, not when stacking
Too chubby

Stregnths: Size (besides the chubbiness!)
Temperment
The way she "carries" herself-great for the show ring!

Faults:
too stocky
bowed legs

Strengths:
gives kisses

astefecyAvevy 07-26-2008 02:57 AM

Notch:
1. I think his Lips are too loose.
2. He has very loose skin around his neck.
3. He's more bulky muscle than lean muscle.

Tess:
1. Her tail is too thick.
2. Her tail is too long.
3. I think her coat may be too thick as well, but not sure.

Hawken:
1. Loose skin around neck.
2. His face is a little houndish.
3. Sometimes his back seems hump upwards. I can't really explain it, but it's almost like a hunchback. I don't know if he has one, or if it's the way he turns his body.

Locus:
1. Fur too thick.
2. Body too thick, or bullish, than APBTish.
3. I believe her tail is a bit too long as well.

Morgan:
1. Slight underbite. (I think, is that what bulldogs have, or is it overbite?)
2. His tail might be too long, but not quite sure.
3. Not as thick as Locus, but muscle tends to be closer to the bulky side, but not too badly.

LOL. I completely missed that we were judging good and bad. lol.
I'll have to think about that one. lol.

PemiaGefe 07-26-2008 01:06 PM

Bad stuff:

Splayed feet (that smell like Fritos)
Too much loose skin on neck

Good stuff:

is the good stuff conformation-wise as well? Hmmm.

He's stinky and cute

GinaIsWild 07-26-2008 01:49 PM

Good times. I am a little biased, but I have to say that while my dogs faults glare at me, I have a hard time picking their strengths, as I feel that each of them has overall nice type & conformation. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y74.../APBsmLoki.jpg
~~~Loki~~~
Faults: Misalignment, lacking forechest, can be a little "dull" (read: doesn't find conformation exciting at all)
Strengths: Typey head, sweet tail carriage, tight feet
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y74...erra_GPBsm.jpg
~~~Terra~~~

Faults: Splay feet, muzzle slightly long, pricky ears
Strengths: Strong rear/stifle, great attitude, nice topline/tailset

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y74...PBsmPriest.jpg
~~~Priest~~~
Faults: Long toes, wide ears, somewhat domey head
Strengths: Very "showy" (freestacks well, gaits well, has lots of flash, etc), masculine without being overdone, keeps himself in show shape
ArrichMer 07-26-2008 01:57 PM
Excuse me?
uh, Terra is perfect.
Gee, thanks for making the rest of us look bad! http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/cool.pnghttp://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/wink.png
ArrichMer 07-26-2008 02:22 PM
hahahaha, D'oh!
That wasn't my intent, I should have quoted bahamutt directly.
Sorry, Terra's been a favorite of mine since I first saw pictures of her.
I LOVE her longer muzzle and goofiness.
insoneeri 07-26-2008 06:29 PM
Hummmmm, Amps faults, touch less angulation in the back end than I would like. Perhaps a touch "over done" (but that is debatable, IMO) and slightly easty/westy in the front.
Strengths, over all good conformation, good topline, very good chest depth and width and proper shoulders. Great front angulation and great bone
Of course someone with more experence and expertise might have a different take.
MineOffedOvex 07-26-2008 10:49 PM
This is a great thread! I think everybody should be able to objectively point out their dogs faults and good points.
Not a camera person, but my youngest two and the dog I currently have from the kennel:
George Bailey---
faults:cathedral chested, pasterns too long, east west
strengths: topline, rear, movement, head and expression, ears, temperament
So White---
faults: slightly cathedral chested, toes a bit long and not as good a flexor tendon as I'd like to see, head slightly large and on the masculine side, color
strengths: topline, rear, movement, expression, ears, dark eye, expression, totally unflappable temperament
Etta James---
faults: not enough substance, narrow chested, in at elbows (could improve with maturity), lower jaw and bite, ears
strengths: tight feet, good pasterns, rear, long upper arm, movement (could outrun a whippet), dark eye, temperament
LOL! She certainly thinks she is, and agrees with you. She says her big ears are better for picking up the sounds of fleeing grasshoppers, her long muzzle serves her when she's trying to reach the last drop of milk at the bottom of the cup, and the splay feet give her better traction. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png
I love Priest big ol head. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png
I don't know enough about confirmation.Her face skin is pretty loose but shes pretty much grown out of her puppy wrinkles. But I do know she has the true personality of the APBT. She loves everyone she meets but is still cautious and barks when theres a knock on the door. She loves to hang and play tug. And most importantly Shes got heart. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png
