Default Australia’s vast and dynamic forest cover: a bird’s-eye view
Found this article in The Conversation and am finding it a very interesting read (by working my way through all the included links). Even defining what actually constitutes a forest isn't as easy as it would first appear.

Thanks, Woolly.

Of course, I had to check (some of) the stats and noticed that we actually have the seventh largest area of forest, according to the link given in the article. We just lose out to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which has 154,000,000 hectares. (The DR Congo is the eleventh largest country by area, which messes up the otherwise tidy 'six largest countries have six largest areas of forest' that I was hoping for.

Rank Geographical area Forest area
1 Russia Russia
2 Canada Brazil
3 China Canada
4 U.S. U.S.
5 Brazil China
6 Australia Congo

Edited: Oh, that worked well. You can figure it out.
