did I say that?

I have to log in anew to make each post despite the fact that I tick the remember me box. perhaps I should allow the scripts in NoScript?

perhaps it is because I am using the forum (blue) default view.
As clearly the http://chrw.customer.netspace.net.au/hf/stss-vBull.html reloads into the other.. each time I click in VBT and makes me re-login.. every time.

Disable NoScript for the entire site/page and see if that makes a difference. It may not be script specific and NoScript is quite intrusive.

Yep but first I tried this because that is where my head was going.. and it didn't work ie; changing display defaults.

Edit: OK I came back to main page.. ie deleted; vbt.php?f=2 off the end. The NoScript icon showed that scripts were allowed globally for the site.
tried editing post.. no need to re-login.

more tests following.

Yes I do think we may be both having problems related to timelines in the whole computer/internet.. sapce race..

I'm doing these tests for myself but publishing them in case they help others.

The Hyperforums use frames and involve more than one site. NoScript has some quite heavy controls on frames, cross site events and suchlike.

Disable it completely. Clear the browser cache, close the browser. Then re-open with NoScript disabled at extension level.

No I wasn't. I've always been ilago.

Your internet connection is not in any sort of severe danger while you test. I know you have great faith in NoScript, but I dislike it intensely when troubleshooting browser errors. It is extremely intrusive, far more intrusive than most users realise.

You are using an older browser and older operating system on a new site arrangement. There may be something related to that causing the problem and you'll never find it while NoScript is active in any way.

Hey.. I've obviously no need for it on these pages.. but .. if I click linkies?.. hmm

problem remains how to set it up the way I need to run it. so I need a script that blocks it on these pages but allows it on others?

anyway in true science.. I'll completely disable it and only run this page.

I can also run in Safari to see what happens there. (NoScript isn't a factor)

You can't troubleshoot with it active - you just won't be able to eliminate it from the list of possibilities. Just don't click on links that don't relate directly to the forums and the Hyperforums if you are concerned.

Try doing the things you were having trouble with before and anything else you can think of that was bothering you. If the problem still exists then it may relate to the version of the browser or the functionality of the operating system. At least you will have eliminated NoScript as a potential culprit.

You aren't running any security software other than Lil Snitch are you?

tests = no change.. ie; lack of NoScript = bugger all.

PS. buggerall = no other problems other than that I have to re-login every post.

of note to coders..
with or without NoScript.. firefox will normally tell me if I need to remember the login.. in this instance this window has been absent.

As it's not NoScript that is interfering, go through the browser settings for cache size and history. If history is set to 0 it can interfere with remembering things. Ensure that cookies are enabled - including third party cookies. The Hyperforum is using links to third party sites (the ABCforums site).

Thirdly, if you have Opera installed, try using the Hyperforum in Opera. Sometimes problems that the more used browsers have, just don't appear in Opera at all. If you don't it's a 14.5MB download if that isn't too much for your connection.

also.. I do have Opera installed though it will most likely need updating.

Try Opera anyway. It will complain if it's out of date. Opera will allow selective third party cookies I think. There is a firefox extension called Cookie Controller that allows more fine grained cookie control than Firefox does.

Since the forums community hasn't yet fully settled into one place or the other, I've made one (two, actually, to keep the icons in balance!) more combination(s) of the HyperForum with cb88's Holiday Forum plus the three unofficial official ones. These are at:

http://chrw.customer.netspace.net.au/hf/stsh-vBull.html

and

http://chrw.customer.netspace.net.au...shr-vBull.html

When changing between viewing threads at the Holiday forum and the abcforums.com ones, you'll need to click on one of the relevant forums' chat/goodnight/etc. icons in the top frame first, or modern browsers will send the post to a new tab rather than the main central(ish) frame of the HyperForum.
