If you are in turuq, studying such book will not aid in your developement unless the Shaikh guiding you feel you have absorved in your life what is being taught so far. Suluk can be learnt from a book just like one can't become a faqih by mere reading of narration.
This isn't a book of Suluk!

As I said before:

If you have nothing to say, please keep quiet.

من كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر، فليقل خيرا أو ليصمت

Sidi suleimanibnsalim, thank you very much for the text may Allah ta'ala reward you. I did need it in Arabic as well but do you also know where I can get a copy in English? If not al-Hamdulillah. As for sidi Nomadic, as sidi suleimanibnsalim said, this is not a book about tariqa but thank you for jumping to conclusions regarding me not having a Shaykh teaching me and secondly, me taking my deen, especially the science of Ihsan from books.

I never take my deen from books sidi, Allah ta'ala has blessed me to learn the little bit that I do know from living shuyukh. The reason for me wanting this text is because I throw a yearly deen intensive called the Rawdah and this year I would like to cover this book and yes with a teacher, but thank you anyway for your good opinion of me...

Not sure how faithful Dr. Jackson has been to the text, but the following may be useful:

Keep the Arabic text with you.

I cannot speak for the faithfulness of the translation not having read the Arabic text, but I very much recommend the work. Dr. Jackson's introduction and notes on the translation are extremely valuable (as long as you already have a fair background in aqidah and especially the terminology used in aqidah).

Is it true this work has been tampered with (and thus unreliable)?
Someone mentioned to me the the opinion of Sanusi(r), Qadi Iyad(r) (i think), they had in mind the portion to do with the "unreached"(those recieving distorted information about Islam).
