Default iPod Help Needed
The other night I was updating the OS on my iPod Touch. I was in the middle of doing this when my laptop decided to turn off. Just like that...BAM...it turned off. Don't know why it did that but that's not the issue. It pissed me off to no end because you're not supposed to turn things off when you're in the middle of updating things. So anyway, I booted up my laptop again, plugged in my iPod and, to my surprise, I was able to complete the update without any issues. However, now every time I plug in my iPod to charge/sync it, iTunes tells me that it can't back up the iPod because the previous backup is corrupt and I need to delete it first. So my question is...how do I do this? Where is it so that I can delete it and carry on with my merry life?

In iTunes, choose the Edit menu. Then "preferences" and then click on "devices".

You should see your backups there and can delete what you want (hopefully).

OK, I've done all that. I even restarted my laptop. I'm still getting the backup error message when I plug in my iPod.

I don't have any coffee. I do, however, have a window and I'm very close to just throwing everything out of it.

1. kill the AppleMobileBackup.exe process from the task manager

2. Run iTunes as an administrator.
3. Look for the backup file under the MobileSync\Backup folder if you have to do a search for it... it all depends on where you installed your itunes
4. Delete the old backup by choosing Preferences\Device\Delete Backup. (I would make a copy of the old backup even if it is corrupted... LOL)
5. Restart iTunes as an administrator.(If youre not running as an admin already)
6. re connect your device

I ran into the same issue with an old ipod of mine... it worked then but im not sure it would still work LOL its been a while

If it doesnt work, then... take it to an apple store, grab one of the so-called geniuses by a choke hold and tell him if he cant fix it you will beat his ass.
