blah blah blah.. android ...blah blah blah... I don't like apple blah blah... because they make stuff that works... blah blah blah blah ... I'd rather something crash all the time... blah blah blah. so therefore blah blah blah I can't appreciate something that's well designed... blah yakitty smackitty blah blah blah Bluetooth is great, every Apple device has it, even the desktops ![]() But going back to Flash, I'm not a fan at all. It's great for games, and that's about it. I don't think such a closed system should be on the web... just my two cents... |

there are more games for the iPhone, iPod and iPad than any other platform, and a lot more apps than android, that's for sure. 95% of apps are approved, the reason apps are normally denied are that they don't work properly. ![]() |

Flash isn't just for game. It's for multimedia presentation. websites and such. It even allows you to have video control within it. Youtube for example. Come on man. It's awesome and you know it. and uh.. can I borrow those 2 cents? I'm trying to make a quarter so I can do laundry. Regarding Flash, I totally agree with Steve Jobs on this one. Flash was great at first, but it's really had it's day: First, there’s “Open”. |

Don't mine Java, Flash or Shockwave.. ![]() I never liked java. But I think flash is important and sad and stupid that apple does not think so. Wether you are using ipad or any other light weight portable device, having a good storage is important and if you ever need to hook up external drive, the device should allow that and have the proper ports. If it will be usb and self powered then yes it will be a huge drain on the battery but not so much if you are connecting to a drive that has its own power supply. |

According to Apple, the iPad has:
Built-in 25-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery Up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching video, or listening to music Up to 9 hours of surfing the web using 3G data network Charging via power adapter or USB to computer system I'm sure those stats aren't quite the reality, probably more like 6hrs. |

The iPad will rule for certain things. Only questions: what is the impact of no java, versus html5 the new standard Apple is pushing for it's products? And no hard drive? If you are downloading movies it's not a big deal, but you'll need an external portable drive to use your own disks and I'm not sure what impact that would have on the battery or if it is even feasible.

I hope apple never sets "standards" because apple's standards are [MORE control for apple, LESS control by consumers]. I don't buy electronics so the electronics or the company making them could control me. I buy them because I want to control the devices and make my life easier. |

What I do mind, is what ever will not let me upgrade, add or alter without it being proprietary.. |

Don't mine Java, Flash or Shockwave.. well I have android phone and android OS phones aren't exactly proprietary either. you can go with any service provider and they will all have some sort of android phone. ipad you have to stick to att I have my android phone which gets os updates from verizon automatically. no need to download manually. |

You say you don't like proprietary stuff but Flash is as proprietary as they come. And it's not just Apple, Firefox have voiced their dislike for Flash too. For me, if I load a page and it's got a flash loader, I'm out of there immediately. It goes against everything the web is about. Roll on HTML5! As for storage, the point of the iPad is to work alongside a desktop computer. It's not a computer replacement. You need the desktop to sync you media etc, just like with the iPhone. Don't mine Java, Flash or Shockwave.. Do you mean upgrade the processor? would you do that on a phone? or a laptop? Android is OPEN SOURCE. There are bunch of free apps (I would say there are more free ones than pay ones) |

Android is OPEN SOURCE. There are bunch of free apps (I would say there are more free ones than pay ones) I'm not entirely certain why you're comparing an Android phone with the iPad right now either, because they're two entirely different devices. There are a lot of providers out there that offer Android phones, though in the US, AT&T actually only has three available. I don't think that T-Mobile has many more than that either. Another thing to note, you're not required to get an iPad with 3G, you can get a WiFi one just fine... you just have to rely on a WiFi connection rather than a 3G to get your data. It tethers you a bit in comparison to 3G, but you don't have to pay that monthly fee. |

blah blah blah.. blah blah blah... blah blah... blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. so therefore blah blah yakitty smackitty blah blah blah flash is still good. I like flash. as far as hardware goes, alot of mobile devices allow you to connect blutooth devices and that's equal on both apple and non-apple products. as far as software, there are lots of apps for both ipad and android devices... again that's almost an equal. I think what I like about android is, anyone can design an app for android and do not have to get their app authorized by apple. if people like it they can use it. |
