Default Software that protects your PC?
Is there any software program that is free and non-trial, that hides your I.P address. (I just want to feel safe even though I know people can still find it, better safe than sorry.) But anyone know any ?

Yea I searched. But some users say that our I.P can still be tracked down. Good way is save your personal information on a paper. But delete cookies, browsering history.

I also found this site : Tor: anonymity online

Use a proxy. Anonymous.com is one way....

Google

It does nor protect your PC, it merely hides your ISP.

Why would you want to hide your ISP?

trying to not get caught downloading music? if that's the case, it won't matter cuz your ISP will throttle you're connection just by the sheer size of files. I don't use proxies or IP hiders. I gave up downloading after that chick in montana got sued for like $21M

Good advice and also any law enforcement agency can get your IP with a court order.

Easy Hide IP v1.3

Hide your IP address with our anonymous surfing/browsing software. Protect your privacy and anonimity.

Easy-Hide-IP - Anonymizes all your internet connections and allows you to: Surf any Web Sites, Web-based Email services, Newsgroups, Blogs and Forums.

Key Features and Benefits provided by Easy-Hide-IP

» Easy-Hide-IP - Secures and Anonymizes all your internet connections and allows you to: Surf any Web Sites, Instant Messenger and Chat services, Web-based Email services, Newsgroups, Web Blogs and Forums. Your Identity is Secure, Protected, and Anonymized.

» Easy-Hide-IP protects your identity by replacing your real IP address with a different one. You will appear to access the internet from a different location, not your own. Your real location is never revealed.

» You can bypass virtually any form of censorship or internet traffic blocking imposed on you by your ISP, by your company, or by some other third parties.
All your internet traffic is routed through remote servers. On your ISP's log file, only the IPs of the remote servers will be shown, not the sites you have visited.

» You do not need to worry about your ISP or some other Entities monitoring your internet activities, see what you are doing, which Newsgroups, Blogs or Forums you have visited and which messages you have posted.

Easy-Hide-IP runs on the following Microsoft Windows platforms

2000 Professional and Server
XP Home, Professional
Vista Home and Professional

Find out how Easy-Hide-IP Works

» We use servers located strategically around the world. You can easily connect to any of the worldwide servers anytime, anywhere. Each time you press the Hide IP Now button one of the servers will be selected for use. The location is selected randomly. Each time your press Get a new IP – the server is use will be changed with a new one. Read More

» Through the secure anonymous network, you can surf the web with total anonymity and security!

» Easy-Hide-IP is designed for sensitive browsing. Use it anytime you want to protect your privacy with full confidence. What Easy-Hide-IP won’t do for you is: enhance your download speed (while using Easy-Hide-IP your download speed might decrease) and will not allow you to access SSL (Secure Socket Layer) web sites so you will not be able to do online shopping.

nice list, syn.......The thing to remember is that nothing is sacred in the world of networking.......a good packet sniffer will out you regardless of the protections you take........

Question is, what is it you are hiding from? If it's stuff from a significant other, that's a pretty extreme step, unless they are rather computer savvy. If you are looking to d/l stuff illegally, you are still going to get nailed, as the Dallas Police will merely go to the IP washing service and say 'gimme', and that's that.

If you are looking to get onto a site you were banned from, well, I'm not going to help with that, as I've not been here that long, and infrequent as my trips may be, I totally dig this place, and love relaxing here. Good peeps, and I have no desire to get the Boot of Doom.
