Hey, I'm looking into getting a 1TB external hard drive. I've narrowed it down between two. There's a Seagate one at Best Buy for about $130.00 (after tax.) There's also a Western Digital on Tiger Direct for about $140.00 (after tax and shipping.) I'd like to get the Seagate for both cost and the fact that I'd have it right away, but if the Western Digital is a lot better I'll just go with that.
Western Digital Elements WDE1UBK10000N External Hard Drive - 1TB, 3.5", USB 2.0 at TigerDirect.com That's the WD one. I couldn't find a link to the Seagate one but it's a FreeAgent, that's all I know. If I go with the Seagate I'll be getting it Tuesday. Anyone have a preferred brand or should I just go for the cheaper, instant gratification? |

Seagate (which purchased Maxtor's hard drive operations) is a favorite among many; I prefer WD, but they are preferences, of course.
Either of those sound like a good deal; you might wish to investigate prices using Slickdeals.net, as they sometimes have drives of particular interest. If I recall correctly, those two brands are always switching between "#1 and #2," so to speak. |
