So, GeekTool is a pretty sweet System Pref Pane for OS X. It's basically a command line app, and you can have it show you just about anything you want (from time to your internal IP, etc. etc.).

I decided to use a photo I've taken in downtown Midland, and embed some things on it. I think it turned out pretty good.
