Speaking of cell plans, have any of you became aware of this outfit http://buzzirkmobile.com/

I have been doing some research on these guys and I'm not sure if it's legit or not. Interesting concept but it appears the phones and the service are only available through independent agents who appear to be part of some MLM matrix. No brick and mortar establishments....kind of strange.

I have/had the Samsung Instinct... yea. Umm. No comment. I re-activated my Sanyo S1 (backup phone) today because the Instinct decide to go haywire due to the fact the touch screen (which I really, really dislike) quit accurately working. Pretty much, a piece of crap. I honestly don't like all the "stuff" on the phone and could care less about the friggin thing. OK, so I will get a refurb for the heck of it, but I swear to you... do not buy this phone. It took them 6 months to finally get an update that actually improved the performance of the phone... 4th update I believe. Sure, it still has it's flaws and if that's what your into, go for it. I will never purchase a touch screen phone again. yea, they look cool until you begin to use them. Credit to the phone, it is tough as nails, but... when you can do a damn thing with it... no buttons... what's the point? So, in retrospect, I should have bought the rant instead and I intend to purchase a new phone this weekend... one with a pullout keyboard. That was another thing about the Instinct... texting sucked ass. I can text pretty fast with T9... but the Instincts touch screen keyboard is the biggest piece of crap. OK, it does have a built in spell checker, which is handy, but no predictive text option at all. Oh well... besides, I don't watch TV on my phone anyway. Yea, MP3 player with a 2GB removable chip and all the software you'd ever need... but if the phone is a piece of crap, what's the point? I never listened to music on it in the first place. The camera is adequate I suppose, but here again.. I don't use my phone for it. I'd much rather use my Kodak 14mp HD camera. The entire setup is pointless and a waste of money. I'm actually kind of glad it's ******. I'll find something much better. So in conclusion... Love Sprint service... no so much for the Samsung Instinct. It's going to it's grave and will never be resurrected if I can help it. There are much better options out there than that thing. Besides, if you actually listen to music off your phone, your a moron to begin with. I could care less if I miss "an important call" if I've got my headphones on. I'll call you back. TV sucks also... no point in a subscription to ESPN to watch the Cowboys play. Out of the question. But hey... to each their own. If you want to find me... I'll be at the Sprint store exploring my options this afternoon.

We have 5 Sprint phones and have tried many of them. I can tell you the BlackBerries suck and the MotoQ sucked. My ex has the new Instinct, he likes it, son has the Rant loves it, daughter has the Katana Eclipse X loves it, We have a Rumor LX260 love it, and the M520 love it. Loved the Razr too, it was a good phone, did not try the new one yet, but thinking about it. We change phones all the time, its like an obsession at our house. We have gone thru so many phones. We have had Sprint for over 5 years and they have been great.

I've got this really cool phone called a Razor. (AT&T) Has anyone seen or used one? LMAO. I know, I know... they're old now days. But, I've been using them pretty much since they came out. The one I have currently is close to two years old and looks like an old tin can. Cracked screen, dents and scuffs all over. But guess what? It works. All the time. Everywhere I go. Inside, outside, everywhere! I have to confess though; I only use my phone to make and receive calls. I have occasionally sent a short text. Not into texting or surfing the web and such. Honestly, I can't understand the obsession with cell phones. They're handy but I think I could live without it.

They are absolutely critical in my line of work. I get work orders dispatched to me via text. I use it to track billing, millage, keep my contact list and so forth. Sometime I need to surf the net to find out about weird file names on a infected computer. I get maps from Google or off of my build in Tom Tom. It's not an obsession, it is a valuable tool that saves me time and money. Actually I earn money on it as I get work orders via it.

Talk to the different carriers and see what the functionality is for their service. I am almost positive Sprint makes a phone to do what you want. And the service is great. My ex even had service in the Bahamas with no problems. And like I said I have 5 phones, 3000 anytime minutes, unlimited text, nights and weekends, roaming and international roaming and I still pay under $500 a month for service. Just an idea............

O.K. you guys are going to laught at me. I have the LG/Alltel and just love it. I have had no problems what so ever with it, even in Ft Worth area or Corpus. I use mine just for phone. My sons send me pics and text and I know how to use it. I just like the basic pic up the phone and dial. I will stay with them as long as I get a good rate. I have never went over my minutes...so I may down grade.

2 van camp pork and bean cans and a piece of string. great reception!

seriously, my needs are simple ... and few so all of the whistles and bells are a bit overwhelming to me. it takes me 30 minutes to do a 5 word text and only 15 seconds to make the call and get the yes or no.

having been a traveling salesperson for a number of years the cell phone was a great security blanket for when i ran out of gas or had a flat tire out in the boondocks. i know people who send out 100s of text messages per day ... i'ld rather hear a real voice.

Sounds like you'd be a good candidate for an iphone. I know it's an Apple product, but at least it isn't Microsoft!

You really should look at the app store to get a good idea of what all is there. I have close to 200 apps on my phone right now. They range from shopping lists to Excel spreadsheets. YOu name it, they have it. The best part, most of them are free!!

I've looked at them. But they have issues. They screw up syncing with Microsoft Outlook. No cut and paste (maybe fixed in the new phones or the new firmware update?) The software keyboard sucks( any better keyboards in the app store?) AT&T reception at my house sucks! It might be my phone but I don't think so, so iPhone will still mean crappy reception in my home office which defeats the purpose of an business phone.

The new update now has cut and paste and instead of the keyboard being in portrait mode only, you can now turn it to landscape mode and it is bigger. I have not had a problem syncing with Outlook, works just fine on my phone. The only thing I will tell you if you do get one of these is to get the "Otterbox" holder for it. It has 2 layers of protection for the phone. the inside is a plastic shell and the outside is rubber. I dropped mine the other day on concrete and no damage.

That is the drawback with this phone though. If you don't have some sort of protective cover on it and drop it on the corner, it's shot!

The Blackberry is also a good choice. My sister has the Curve and she uses it for her work out at NASA. She says she can almost do everything on it that she does on her computers out there. That might be an option for ya.

Well, I hate cell phones. Maybe not cell phones, but I hate talking to someone, their cell phone rings, and they interrupt me to answer the call. Rude.

For years I had a plain jane land line with unlimited long distance, cost me about $50.00 per month. I kept it cause it was so much cheaper and was unlimited long distance for when I called back home. Good signal, no dropped calls.

We have a local service up here called Metro PCS. Unlimited texts and minutes, cost about $50.00 per month. I finally changed to it a few years ago. My phone is for making calls, occasionally I'll text. That's about all I care to do on the thing. For years I had a simple flip phone, it still works, but someone just gave me a razor. It's ok, I guess.

I'm with you on this one pogo...I love my Razr and am sad that AT&T currently doesn't have one to offer. Only drawbacks on this phone is the T9 sucks and I wish it has a memory card slot. The great thing about AT&T is that if your phone breaks you can just take your SIM card out and put it in an old spare you may have laying around the house or you can run to Wal-mart and buy a cheap $20 go phone to get you buy till you get a good replacement. I live in Stanton and we get great service with AT&T always...not so when we had Alltel.

I have an AT&T Tilt smart phone. This is a 3G able phone. Ever since they enabled 3G here the service has sucked from my home. Out and about town I do pretty good but sitting in my apartment the signal sucks. Don't know if it is the phone (it is getting dated.) or AT&T or something in the apartment that kills 3G. The phone often has poor signal or drops to edge or worse even standard G service.

So I am phone shopping and I not unwilling to jump service to new provider.

So how is your service? Who are you with and what phone do you use? And what parts of town do you get good or bad service?

And how about on the road?
i had a tilt went to the iphone let me know if you need a battery or anything i have a couple laying around here.
