Default Internet Options Problems
If you have any ideas, it would be appreciated.

Problem: Each time I open a browser, I have to go to the Internet Options tab, select Advanced, and select "show pictures" under the multimedia tab. Even though I do this and restart, it seems that option just undoes itself. I have to constantly go in and select "show pictures".

Also, I have logins that will not automatically go into effect, even after I select "Remember Me" on certain sites. Its as if my logins are wiped clear each time I open a browser.

SF what version of Internet Explorer? 6,7, or 8 Beta?

Are you running any security software? Norton, McAfee, Zone Alarm? AdAware? Any of these products can have a "do not allow my internet options" feature that may be doing its' job a bit too well.

IE 7

I have AT&T Yahoo Security (Anti-Spy, Anti-Virus) as well as PC SpeedScan Pro. This hasn't happened until I loaded the SpeedScan, so I will look in there.

Allright, I removed that program and all seems to be corrected.

And, Mav, I appreciate your UserCP message. Its good to know that your hate for me consumes you to the point where you take glee in knowing that I have a minor computer problem that can be solved by removing software.

i'm sorry frenchy "hate" is always your word ... it spews freely from your fingers regularly. hate is a powerful emotion and should not be wasted on trivia.

Umm, telling him that "hate spews from his fingers freely" means you've now made it your word also.

Don't bet the farm on that. This program is known for installing some secret back door items.

I would download Spybot S & D and Malwarebytes AntiMalware and scan your system just to make sure your are fully purged.

Would a good purging of the registry help as well? I use CCleaner at least once a month. Doesn't catch everything, but it has been helpful in removing residual traces of crapware from my PC.

I have been using the AT&T Yahoo Online Protection. I ran a scan and it found a "trojan" program of some sort. Removed that and the PC SpeedScan and all other relateds.

AT&T/yahoo is really McAfee which kind of sucks IMO.

SF. I would download a free program called SuperAntispyware and a program called Malwarebytes. Google both.

Run both. You'd be surprised at what it finds.

Do you possibly have a link to these? I would like to run the scan.

Once I run the scan, do I have to pay to have their stuff installed to remove junk?

Both programs are free and they remove everything. Both also have paid versions with automatic updates and real time protection. I would pay for Superantispyware but you don't have too. If you are diligent about manually updating and scanning then you don't need to pay.

I ran the superantispyware and it caught a few more adware things. I appreciate the help on this.

And, Mav, yes I did read his post. Thank you for your constant concern and sending me PM's on this topic. Perhaps you should also use these downloads that he recommends.
