Default PlayStation 3 sells on eBay for 15,100 dollars
INSANE??? This belongs in the "I think I'll wait" dept.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - A buyer in Britain won an eBay auction for one of Sony's newly launched PlayStation 3 game consoles with a bid of 15,100 dollars.

The 60-gigabyte console, which retails for 599 dollars, was one of thousands being offered on the Internet auction site by profiteers hoping to turn a quick buck after the PS3's US launch at midnight Thursday.

The powerful machine made its world debut in Japan on November 10, and sold out within hours. Sony made only 400,000 units available in the United States, while in Europe, the console does not go in sale until March.

The British buyer, "bid-boy-walshey", had made the top bid so far for a completed auction. Other sellers were offering their PS3s at a "buy it now" price of 25,000 dollars, although they had no bidders.

That's terrible. Why buy a $600 gaming console just to smash it? Some people make no sense.

I read on another local forum that I am on...someone put a link up to houston craigslist and this guy was selling his PS3. He said something like "only had it a couple of hours and already..." I cant remember the exact thing but it was like 6 pm yesterday when he posted the thing on craiglist. Anyways he went on to say that he would sell it for what he bought it for 700 and this was why..he put in a dvd and the blue ray thing wouldnt eject it...and it fried or something. It was crazy, about half of the front of it was melted away.

Some PPL do this just for show. Notice his account was created today (19th) and has no history at all... probably created with false information. Unfortunate to true eBayers.
