When do we see the 'Drop Barry not Bombs' protesters march in cities across America?

I'm just throwing this out there, and just basing this on my own cynicism and not any actual analysis or evidence, but could this turn in to an all out war, and become Obama's way of securing a second term? (Can't change horses in midstream and all that)

Sure. That area is a total cluster f***. Anything could happen. What if a missile kills some high ranking imam dude? What if Americans are taken hostage and we send in Marines to get them? The only reason we are even there is OIL.

I wish them well in Libya. But, I do not understand why we are involved and leading the charge. I am proud of my country but again I am disappointed in my government.

uh... we followed the French (granted, we urged them on- but they lead nonetheless).

Regarding cost of the missile: We consider the cost of mechanical things to trump American lives, if only because we are able to.

I'd have to disagree on that. As usual we are bearing the brunt:

"U.S. missiles and warplanes were clearly in the lead Saturday and Sunday, but U.S. officials say the plan remains for the U.S. to step back once the threat from the Libyan military is reduced. "

But will we be able to step back?

"Libya's claims of civilians among the dead from the strikes appeared to make Arab countries nervous, after the Arab League took the unprecedented step of calling for a no-fly zone. On Sunday, Arab League chief Amr Moussa criticized the missile strikes, saying they went beyond what the Arab body had supported. "

This what I don't want to see. Getting into another conflict, Americans dying, trillions spent over, oil. If it weren't for oil, they would still just be nomads roaming the dessert.

Sure it's about oil. All wars are about trade (politicians make you want to believe it's about freedom (or God) because that's how they get you to sacrifice your life).

However, the French stood up this time, unlike with Iraq when we really had no real support from anyone. (i still believe Iraq was little G's payback for his father getting snookerd by Saddam over the no-fly zone issue)

My point was that we are able to wage war because the likely hood of loss of U.S. life is low (compare our death rate with civilian Iraqis, let alone the Taliban).

If you said "parents, you either commute to work or your kid will be sent to war to die", I bet you would see all those bikes in those million dollar bike lanes.
