Default Somalia - Same approach or will we remember how not to do it?
Millions of Somalis are starving with thousands dying each day. We've seen this before, and with the United Nations declaring famine in portions of Somalia, we'll continue to see it in some capacity. What is the right answer for US Military involvement in Somalia? The government has already tossed the obligatory aid package into the basket when it went by a couple of weeks ago, but is there a need for military involvement? Or, are we doing our part?

Until all the warlords, pirates and such are done for/out of the area, they will still be this way.. Any aid we do send will like when Azid was in power, go to them, not who it needs to.

No good answer to this one. There hasn't been a government to speak of in that country since what,,, 1991? There are warlords with militias of heavily armed-drugged out individuals who have absolutely no problem with taking food from starving people and using them as human shields.

And the part that gets me the most is many of those 'starvign people' would rather HELP the militia/warlords/pirates than help us get rid of them...

I think we need to think back to how our last trip to Somalia ended. Maybe it's time for some other countries to step up and help out.

66 you are absolutely right. How about China and north korea? They worked together before, should be like old times. East Timor hasn't been in the news since they gained independence, maybe they could send their version of Red Horse. And the Bolivian Sea Bees,,,, both of them!! Iceland has been in NATO forever, they'd be speakin Russian if it wasn't for us, send Gunnar and Magnus in a boat down their to catch some fish. How about Brazil? Jump on in and help Brazil. They speak Portuguese, how about Portugal?? They got downgraded to junk bond status a while back, maybe S&P would like it if they actually did something. We ain't heard nothin from Argentina since the Brits kicked their sorry arses out of the Falklands, they owe us for all that ODESSA file nazi harboring sh!t. Argentina: get your sorry a$$es to Somolia. South America,,, how bout Peru?? Those crazy sons a bitches in WWII era Russian Yaks shoot the crap out of everything anyway,, they'd be perfect!! Antarctica?? Send a squadron of penguins!! Rant over.

We need to stay the hell out of their business and let them kill each other off. We have problems of our own to deal with and throwing good money after bad in this shithole is NOT going to do us or those people any good.
