Sort of a similar story, but not really...

When my brother and I were in high school, our mom called the cops on my brother for possession of marijuana. To this day she regrets it. 12 years later he still smokes every day and still hasn't finished college.

Robbing a gas station... obviously that's different. Kudos to their old lady for turning them in.
