I'm not a transhumanist, try to shave my neck well, and have never been in a cubicle. I just find fashion boring, a field largely dominated by the pretentiously silly--and there's a limit on how much self-expression one can have when wearing articles produced in bulk to follow various popular trends. The whole idea of "fashion" is to follow what's hot this summer, or this fall, or whatever. It's possible to have one's own distinctive style, largely by going nuts on thrift stores and other places where a wide variety of styles are available. But even that is largely a women's thing. Men's fashion really hasn't changed much in the past couple of decades. A buttoned shirt is a buttoned shirt is a buttoned shirt. Maybe the collar changes, or the color, or the fit. But not much, and you can always find something tastefully restrained that won't look out of place no matter how times change.
To that end, I keep some nice dress shirts around for when I need to dress up; I select them for attractive colors/patterns, price and comfort in no particular order. Otherwise I just stick to plain ol' t-shirts or polos, and I'm not even too particular about what's on them.
