It is sad that Festivals don’t last. It is fairly difficult for people of any age to come out of Festive moods back into day-to-day routines. I know of the times through out my working life where people just did not want to get back to work after each and every festival. Especially those who had their families living far from their work places felt it most.

The problem with a festival is that you wait so long for it, look forward to it and is just gone too soon and makes you wait another whole year. Togetherness has so much to do with festivals that make it possible.

Festivals bring joy to the rich and poor alike. For the poor the only time they spend with their family forgetting their struggle for an existence they have to go through every day. It is a good time for charity if one is generous, to think of those who are less privileged.

The joy of giving is immeasurable; it is just making up one’s mind to give that needs to be done. It is a time to forget the past to start afresh, to reconcile and make life worthwhile living. One year is a long time to wait for the next Deepavali but all good things come to those who wait for them.
