It has nothing to do with upbringing or social status, Dominicans just know how to have a good time and how to enjoy each others company, an extremely social race. A night out together to sit in silence probably doesn't make any sense at all to most, unless with your partner who you live with 24/7 and could do with the timeout.
no, I don't think a night at the cinema is sufficient reason to sit in silence in DR.
Some can be a nightmare in situations where a little consideration for others is required besides that, have you even stood in a check in line at the airport? Now that is bad manners, disrespectful and annoying. they don't seem to understand that people are standing in a line waiting, this concept of a queue is unheard of to most in DR.
But expecting a Dominican to sit in silence is like expecting a fish to stop swimming, impossible and if they did they would probably die.
