I tried it putting, also. I'm not as worried about putting, but it holds promise there as well. Stands to reason.

"A certain part of the fairway or green"? So that's how you single digits operate.

Golf My Way, by Nicklaus? I read it, too. Beautiful watercolor pictures in the book. I had no idea how good he was then. I was just starting (about 1987) and was hitting balls I'd colored into the field in back of our house. Hoped our golden retriever would bring them back, but she was more interested in gophers.
Just because I aim there doesn't mean I land there.

If the pin's on the left I try to be center-right in the fairway and visa versa. There are a few holes at my home course where it's necessary to be in a certain portion of the fairway to go at the pin. 2 of them you need to be on the right and that's where ob is.

As far as aiming at portions of the green I just think it helps me concentrate better. If the flag's left I aim just to the right of it in case I pull it and you know you don't want to short side yourself if you miss.

Some days things are feeling good and I just go right at every damn pin. Sooner or later it bites me in the ass.
