It's not because it's low carb... weight loss is always slower as you age, no matter what diet you choose. If fast wt loss is the only reason you're eating this way... do yourself a favor and don't do it. Heck, don't do any diet since none that are healthy will give you more than 1 to 2# a week under optimal conditions. How long did it take you to gain the weight?

And more importantly... How did you plan to maintain your weight loss?
