My dog has horribly sensitive skin, and the easy walk harness gave her a heat rash across her belly/armpits after a relatively short walk. I contacted the Easy Walk people after the fact, and they told me that "she will develop a callous after a while". Hmph... For the same reason, I am reluctant to use a prong collar. I also don't like how much freedom it gave my dog's head/neck (difficult to "steer" her focus away from potentially dangerous situations/objects). I've heard anecdotes about the gentle leader/halti causing neck injuries, but I've never actually met anyone that's had a dog injured using one. For this reason, I picked up a halti for my dog, and it's been fantastic. I use in in combination with a flat, sheepskin lined leather collar and a Schutzhund-style leather lead with one snap attached to the halti, and one attached to the collar. This way, I can hold onto the portion of the lead attached to her collar, and I still have the correction potential of the halti portion if necessary. I added some moleskin to the nose portion of the halti, as I was worried about irritation, and so far, so good.

We live in urban Seattle in a building/neighborhood with a lot of other dogs, so I am a little paranoid about control. Despite showing no signs of DA around other dogs in supervised situations, there are a few DA dogs and clueless owners in the area that I am wary of.
