Very interesting thread. Quite timely for me to read. I'm relatively new to the game and up until recently I had numerous WTF shots in most rounds. I thought there would be some point when I had it "all figured out" and then I might hit a less than perfect shot but never a WTF. I'm kind of realizing, and this thread has reaffirmed it, that hitting a smaller number of those shots as I get better is more realistic.
Yesterday I was on course for a good score(for me) 44 on the front 9. I was really jazzed when I parred 10. Then on 11 I sliced the driver OB and chunked a wood into a little creek on 18. Still broke a hundred, which is okay for me but I could taste 90 after 10 so it was quite disappointing. WTF
