I've played in a mens league for a very long time, maybe close to 30 years, and it is super slow. Slow to the point it gets backed up pretty easy if anyone out front has a issue (ie lost ball or something). We only play 9 holes each week, but it can be 2 1/2 + hours pretty easy. We talked about this issue at our league meeting this spring and everyone agreed to play ready golf, but it seems nothing changed.
