I moved to a new town and started playing with a group of guys who played for quarter skins. I really enjoyed them except they noodled the ball around and gave each other 5 footers. I played the ball down and putted out, just my way. They even told me it was ok in their group to noodle the ball. I replied that I played golf, kept a handicap and really couldn't do that. Before long, everyone was playing real golf without me saying another word. Well, except for one guy. We were walking along together and he said, laughing, that if you just kept a duplicate ball in your pocket, you never lost a ball. I was stunned since I had lost lots of quarters to this bozo. If he hit it into the woods, I always made sure I went with him to look after that.
