is it crazy that 39% is used for fuel, or crazy that the government PAYS farmers NOT to grow corn to help dictate the market[ban]

Payment to NOT grow crops is nothing new - I think he was more considering the Government (and so the tax payer) offsetting the true cost of ethanol production.

I'd also be curious about the Tabacco subsidies - are they still in operation?
