Well yeah. It's generalising a bit to say "in America an auto is best" just as much as it is to say "manual is better than auto".

The point I getting across is that generally speaking a manual will always allow the possibility of better economy, acceleration and generally more involvement. But the advancement of auto boxes is slowly changing some of these points.
