Maybe for international play, but in the NHL a goal that is knocked in from above the crossbar is high-sticking. It doesn't make that goal any less impressive though. This hockey tournament doesnt mean much though as Canada, USA, Russia, and even Sweden are all missing their best players. Fun to watch though with the NHL winding down and my Wings knocked out of the playoffs.

Edit: high-sticking the puck (knocking it out of mid-air) is judged from shoulder height.

I never understood the 'shoulder' measurement. Whose shoulder are we talking about? The goalie's? Zdeno Charo's or Theo Fleury's? I like the crossbar measurement, but, then again, that one only works if the deflection is fairly close to the goal-line.

I think I'm so used to Bettman's NHL where anything beautiful is waved off. That's probably why my immediate reaction is to say it's high-sticking. I'd call it a good goal, but I could see Toronto calling it off because the heel of the blade is technically above the crossbar, even though it's the toe that guides the puck in the net.

All in all, it's a stunning play, and I wish the rules around dangling and craddling were more relaxed.
