Did you guys hear about the new earth like planet they just discovered?

LINK

It seems that up to this discovery it was known that planets like earth could ONLY exist in systems that had a similar star as our own, and this star is nothing like ours....goes to show how wrong we can be about a many things and how little we know outside our own solar system.
JUST discovered? lol that was almost a year ago. The one they JUST discovered wasn't even discovered by NASA, it was some independent group of people I forget who.

The recent discovery is orbiting close to an M dwarf(red dwarf), a star much smaller and dimmer than the G type our sun is, so planets can be in closer and stay within reasonable temperatures. It's also only 2.5x the size of Earth, though it's mass is still being calculated as it seems like it is lighter than it should be. Scientists are speculating it could be a water planet with a smaller rocky core beneath the great ocean somewhere, as it is in a habitable range from it's parent star for water to exist in it's liquid form. It's also only 40 lightyears away I think. I saw it on Daily Planet yesterday or the day before.

Pretty damn neat IMO.

Here found a link to a short blib on it. Daily planet had an exclusive on the scoop so there is prolly not much on the net about it yet. Try googling yourself to find more.
