My folks have had sky since old analouge days but because they live near the coast its "outside" sky's free BB area [rolleyes], but they did try to flog us a £17 a month service. They got told to stick it quite quickly as we pay around $50 a month with them already.

Thanks for the plusnet idea, 1gig worries me though, would like to show her some of the cool stuff on the web like iplayer and 4od if possible.

May go with orange but the 18 month contract is a bit iffy but 12 quid a month for 6gb allowance 2mb service with free wireless router? She might not want a huge contract though

Has she got an O2 phone?

I think even PAYG accounts qualify if they spend enough.
Even without an O2 account, the packages are still pretty damn good with no limits or port blocking.
