As I type this I have about 3/4 bottle of red wine in me....and I am wondering why I feel so damn happy. This is a pretty common effect for my consumption of red wine, a relaxed sense of well being.

Beer makes me a bit sleepy and sluggish.

And we all know people that "tequila makes them crazy"....

Basically I wonder why....why do different drinks tend to make a person feel different way when the "active" ingredient is alcohol?

A few things like sugar and carb content make some sense but I have noticed it even with shots...

Anyone else feel so different? Any ideas why?
its all in your head dude...alcohol is alcohol. You likely drink red wine when you are in a certain mood, since you already are in that certain mood, the alcohol in the wine only reinforces that mood. Same with beer....most people drink beer right after work when they are already somewhat sluggish...or say in front of the TV watching football on a sunday... when a nap is very likely, beer or no. There is not some magical concoction in tequila that makes people go crazy, it is just that tequila shots are as popular as margaritas (which in and of themselves can be quite strong)... people get peer pressured into doing a couple of shots over a short time while they also have a margarita in thier hand, things can get outta hand pretty fast.
