What do you mean by house-entry and livebox chris? I'm confused
In the Netherlands it's called the "ISRA point". It's a small case where the phoneline comes in on one side and goes out on the other. Until that point it's the responsibility of our Telecom company, after that it's our own.
What he means to say is that with DSL, make sure the length of wire between your modem and your local exchange is as short as possible, and that the quality of the line is as good as possible. DSL is very dependant on both for its speeds! The difference between 20m of "home cable" and 8cm (his case) probably results in sync speeds of about 2mbit higher.
But that is only if you're NOT getting max sync speeds at this time
max sync speeds = the length of cable between the exchange is short enough (you know from the graphs, up to 1.3km for 20mbit), that phonecable is of good quality and the phonecable in your house is short enough and the quality is good enough. [thumbup]
@ eduard: 100mbit sync for 40 euros a month, for a consumers connection here
you're on the campus, that doesn't count
