I use my HTC Tytn 2 PDA as a sat nav, has built in GPS which is very sensitive and gets a lock very quickly.

I use TomTom Navigator 6 with the latest version 6 maps, never has it got me lost and I drive a lot.

For off road navigating when I walk I use GPS Tuner which gives you loads of options, like speed, altitude, compass and many, many more.

If you want a customizable sat nav I would definitely go with a PDA as there are so many apps available for it
