I don't even know why I am going to explain this, but I feel compelled to do so.

*Deep breath*

The reason he had to pull you over was legitimate, you did have a broken tail light and regardless if the scrapyard was closed you could of just as easily went to walmart and bought some tape to put over it until you got it fixed.
The reason he told you not to text anymore is simple, he does not know who you are talking to and what about and therefore can not determine weather you are plotting against him (IE calling friends)
The reason for the spot light is to make sure that he can see all your movements, because to a police officer the most deadly thing is a persons hands, if you can monitor their hands then you have the best chance of going home that night.
The reason for his to ask you about drinking is because well it's late, on the weekend, and you said yourself you were going down a road that nobody travels down. It would seem like, depending on the crime in the area in which you live to be somewhat suspicious. There could have been a B&E within the last 24 hours and they are looking for a particular person or something along those lines that could end up being the criminal caught red handed.
The officer did have a legitimate reason to stop you, and like someone else already said, most stops for minor things end up getting drugs. Now it's not as if he was just sitting there waiting for you after you walked out of the bar, he was simply doing his job in a PROACTIVE fashion which requires using small time infractions to catch big time criminals.
Most people wouldn't have a problem if they knew that they are always looking for narcotics and if they knew how much they get by those kind of stops then they wouldn't complain.
