I have a 42" panasonic plasma as well (600U). The picture is great. Just remember to tone down the "picture" setting for the first 100 hours or so for break-in. Don't listen to anyone who thinks 1024 x 768 is a sucky resolution. They obviously haven't seen ESPN-HD in 720p at that resolution. It honestly looks better than perfect. I feel like it's a better, more crisp image than my own eyes would show if I were standing there in person. 1080i looks good too, but not as good as 720p. That's just my opinion though. Also, I don't think the "progressive" aspect of 720p really does much. I think it's the fact that it's the screen's natural resolution that makes it looks so good.
