i've always regretted the sense i get when i look into an animals eyes and feel that i'm severely limited in understanding them.
often i pick my cat up and look into his eyes and say:
"why can't we communicate better?".

I'm sorry for your loss, people do have a connection to their animals, but in this matter I have to say there is nothing to communicate with. I may get some flack for this but meh.
