I think it's a scam, because how the heck would they know to pick your dojo out of hundreds?? I wouldn't trust them without solid proof of identity! I bet they googled Kendo and just picked a dojo. I wouldn't be so sure that his dojo is the only that has received this letter. And yes, of course this is a scam. I have heard about similar emails to clubs before, and sports events are a common way to flee into a different country. I know that Gothia Cup (world's largest youth soccer event, hosted in Gothenburg, Sweden) have had problems with this from year to year.
