That's weird! My German friends, who come from Bavaria and Schwabia, say the same thing about anyone north of the Schwarzwald! Steifdeutsch was one expression I heard. But then they do wear lederhosen in the streets of Munich even when the Oktoberfest isn't on.

I also had colleagues from Frankfurt and Dusseldorf and they were good people and always made me feel welcome when I visited.

Lederhosen.....mmmm.....sweaty leather short pants............another reason we lost the war.
