You guys only have half the story. Bale already nicely and courteously asked the DP to not fiddle with his lights in the middle of a scene. You don't just snap out of nowhere. The DP is in the wrong here and was being completely disrespectful and unprofessional. You just can't do that crap on set. Sure, Bale was over the top but he has grounds for being so annoyed. If they were using film, I'd be surprised if the DP wasn't fired then and there. When you become a distraction to anyone on the set, you don't belong there.
