I know they don't do that. My point is, most companies will try to maintain their profit margins by only hiring the minimum amount of employees at the cheapest wages they can get away with. This is a problem because the flow of money through profit is going to a few people and not back into the economy. His speech was trying to place the responsibility solely on the relation between the consumer and the business when I am offering a counterpoint that the rich / company owners can have a hand in boosting the economy by taking the extra money, well beyond what they need, and putting it back into the economy rather then hording it.
No one is arguing that they can't. Yes they can, but the point is they don't (at least not always, or even usually).

You have to have money flowing through the economy for it to grow. Where do you think the majority of the money is?
