Not this Gordon - I'd've suggested a glass of water with your food, or when you were feeling hungry, to give the stomach the feeling of having something in it.

Soup is a darned good idea, though, because of the way the body processes it it stays in the stomach a lot longer, reducing the feeling of hunger for longer.

Other things that will help burn off calories would be wearing less clothing, using less heating - the body will burn more calories to maintain body temperature - walking and using stairs where practical, etc.
Not a big difference, but it all helps.
