First of all, "a small nest egg" is not going to keep up with inflation PLUS rising health care prices, even when you get social security. Those sorts of people are exactly the type that will find the current economic situation hazardous to their pocket books. The lucky ones have set pensions, and many of them will probably see their pensions scrapped or cut back.
