Default What Must You Do To Be A Jew?
I always thought Judaism was a faith like Islam or Christianity, but it feels like "race"/ethnicity.

I always thought "Jewish-ness" was passed from mother to child. My fiancé has put money down to apply for a "birth-right" trip and actually considered the idea of embracing Judaism.

Her (and her brother's) McDonald's scores are mad Jewish. She got rejected 4 times, when White non-Jews have gotten the opportunity to go after making the same desposit.

It seem's like one that can be mixed with "Caucasoids", but not with the "Kushi" people. Just look at Beta Israel, and how they are treated.

They seem not to give 2 shits about genetics (contrary to popular belief). The whole mtDNA K1a9 and "Ashkenazim declared DNA" meant nothing.

Even her dad's Y-DNA is oddly common in Jews, but nothing. Her mom is not a practicing Jew, but that's not my fiancé's fault.

Israel is super-racist, of course they don't want black people. They even discriminate sephadis from superior askenazis

Well, having just gone over the results of multiple people I share with, your fiance seems most definitly partly Ashkenazi and likely 1/4. Is this true?

It is a right given to all Jews to make a pilgrimage to Israel at some point in their life. Preferably in the late teen or early 20's years

More like 2/5's. Her mom is about 80% Middle Eastern genetically

According to the Wikipedia page on Birthright Israel:

"Eligible individuals are those who have at least one parent of recognized Jewish descent and who do not actively practice another religion, between the ages 18 to 26, post high-school, who have neither traveled to Israel before on a peer educational trip or study program nor have lived in Israel past the age of 12."

If neither your fiancée nor her mom practice Judaism, then obviously she's not going to be eligible for the program. What's the mystery here?

who does want fresh black immigrants to pollute his country ? israel currently hosts about 40 000 illegal immigrants, deportations are on the way, a fence along the border is being completed (a real fence, with mines and snipers).

OT: one can become a jew by the procedure called giyur, but why would anyone ? its ridiculous

well there is some unofficial racism in Israel, but its limited and goes both ways, darker and whiter jews sometimes call each other names, for example darker jews are arabs and russian jews are russian etc. but its limited.

I don't think her African heritage is necessarily the issue, cause I've looked through Birthright photos before and I've definitely seen a few black people, e.g.:

Israel is super-racist, of course they don't want black people. They even discriminate sephadis from superior askenazis
People here aren't particularly anti-black, at least not compared to the immigrants we got from the former USSR(hands down the most classically racist people I know).

Is your fiancée genealogically Jewish , or did she found out she was part Jewish by genetics? If then there's a big difference..

That's just standard xenophobia, Russian Israelis are legitimately racist.

From what he explained to me, his fiancée's mother is of Austrian Jewish descent but she was not practicing. Now his fiancée wants to get in touch with her Jewish roots, but she is finding it difficult to be recognized by the Jewish community.

@Pgbk87 Is your fiancé a practicing Jew?
He explained at the beginning that neither she or her mother are practicing. But he indicated that his fiancée is thinking about converting and practicing based on her mother's Jewish heritage. There have obviously been issues in doing that.

Actually, they don't need to practice Judaism (neither her nor her mother). It's of no importance whatsoever as to whether they practice or are completely secular, unless her mother or she observe another religion. If they converted to christianity, that for example could be a problem.
