Default Do you have any distant ancestors of another ethnicity?
I consider myself fully Polish, and I am for all practical purposes but I have some foreign blood in me:

1/8 Lithuanian
3/16 German
1/16 Russian

I do.

Bulgarian
Zaza
Greek
Egyptian
Possible Marronite.

(In addition to Yoruk Turk)

Are what I have been told so far...

However, turns out that the town my mum is from was a Venetian settlement and when the Ottomans came to Cyprus the whole town converted to Islam...so looks like I may have some Venetian ancestors too. I assume they would be ethnic Italians.

Yes, but all of them are concentrated on the maternal side (from most distant to most current): Jamaican, Spaniard (Andalucian) and Puerto Rican.

I would LOVE to see the "Turkish members" share their ancestors here...of course only the normal Turks, not the "purebloods" lol

My maternal great grandfather was a White American of British/Irish ancestry. The rest of my fam are just MGM Aframs of predominate West African ancestry.

That I know for certain? Scottish, going back a couple hundred years ago. Rumours there was recent ancestry from Greece before arriving to Turkey, though this has yet to be confirmed, even if highly probable within the last couple of centuries.

Similar to jonboyclem. Both of my parents are Southern-descended MGM Aframs of mostly West African ancestry. They have a mix of African ancestries, most of which I am still unfamiliar with, but my father has Nigerian Igbo and Ivorian ancestry, while my mother's African input is at least partly from the Senegambian region. Their non-SSA mixed ancestry is European (British Isles: Scotland is the biggest one; my mother has other traces through her paternal Canadian grandmother) and Amerindian (Eastern Cherokee -- traces right to the area on my father's side). This all falls under the contemporary Afram label, so we are technically monoethnics, even though we are mixed.

According to 23andme I have an African-descent ancestor. I still need to get off my butt and send my mom a kit to see if it's on my maternal or paternal side so I can focus my research in finding who it is.

I am similar. I'd say that at least 1/2 of my 23andMe matches are white Americans or Europeans. Mom's non-SSA ancestry is British and dad's is Russian (unlikely). McDonald's first analysis of me was Russian (22%) and Jewish (8%) but then he revised it to Irish, Mozabite and Uygur. I don't know about my results or my dad's. I'm a bit skeptical. His whole family is from VA and NC.

I have Basque ancestor from my dad side of the family who arrived in the Canary Islands during the 1500s from Ondarroa, Basque Country. I most likely have distant Portuguese ancestor from my Canarian maternal great grandmother (My maternal grandfather mom) because I have an ancestor from the late/mid 1600s with a Portugese surname (Abrue), who was from the Canary Islands. I also have distant ancestor from a town called Plasencia in Extremadura, Spain.

Most of my fam is the same with SSA origin but we know of Native Cherokee/ Black foot ancestry on both sides and Scots on my maternal side. Other than that, tests detected French ancestry which is not too farfetched given my name's origin particularly amongst Marylanders.

so yea same here

Ofcourse I do, but there is no one alive in my family that has recollection of a family member with an ethnicity other than Turkish. According to Ashina, that makes me a pureblood and I agree with her
