They have some influences, but Mexicans also have cuisine of their own. They were influenced by Spanish, but we can all agree the Mexicans differenciated themselves quite a bit and made some innovations in cuisine of their own that the Spanish did not. |

Mexican food is a blend, like the people. Definitely not of predominantly Spanish origin, in my opinion. Maiz, masa, chile, cacao, aguacate (avocado), nopal (cactus), using the molcajete, and I can go on and on. If anything, I always thought it sided to indigenous elements. Also every state has their own influences and ways of creating their own dishes. ![]() I've heard that mexicans cook alot with manteca de cerdo... |
