Of course not all of it is like that, but the better known Rap, the one that gets most of the attention, is what im refering to.



Of those people you mentioned I only know Mos Def because he has done some acting(I watch a lot of movies), and Kanye West for being a buffoon. The others, not a clue. They got no publicity.

I recommend Common, He is pretty much the antithesis to gangsta rap, and has really good lyrics (the kind of lyrics that made rap an art form for social activism and protest, before the advent of nelly, jayz, etc). I like the song "corner." Another reason I like him is cuz he's from my town. And
