Orthodox Jews, Coptic Egyptians, Oriental Orthodox Amharas, Sunni Arabs, Ibadi Omanis, Catholic Maltese, Syriac Christians, and the myriad others aren't going to join hands around a campfire and sing "kumbaya" just because the ancestral word for "peace" is the same in all their languages. They have nothing in common.

Iraqi Arabs are Arabians no Mesopotamian at all. They are just an extension of Arabian tribes and have strong ties to Kuwait, Saudi and Bahrain. They almost have nothing in common with Levantines and let alone other Semites. Most Iraqis see more commonality with the Gulf rather than with the Levant. Interesting people they are, my favorite of all Middle Easterners and the ones I respect the most.

Not particularly serious. But somewhat though provoking. What about pan-semitic relations? Not just between Jews and Arabs, but between all Semites. Sorry Turkey, you're getting some nerfing. Leave Turkey out and cut them some slack. There is enough drama here regarding them. |

Iraqi Arabs don't like Lebanese people very much or other Levantines. Despite the war with Kuwait and the political issues with the Gulf in general. The Iraqis many of them have strong bond to the Gulf, and admiration as well respect, this because it's encoded in their blood it seems. Iraqis don't dwell on their mythical pre-Arab ancestors when they did not even exist like the Levantines. Most Iraqi Arabs will tell you they are proud to be of Bedouin origins so I think this speaks for itself. Pan-Semitism is joke, because Iraqis don't want to be with Levantines for example. I know a lot of Iraqis because we have large community here, they all claim to have ancestors from Yemen or Arabia. Lebanese men usually harass their women as well from what I have seen and usually bully the Iraqi children by Lebanese ones.

Aww hell I'd rather have ties to the people of the Mediterranean than to that of the desert dwellers any day. |

Iraqis are bashed by Lebs and Levantines at every single opportunity. Yet Gulf Arabs don't bash them at all despite the political complications there seems to be respect on both sides but for some reason Lebs see Iraqis as inferior to them and bully or harass their women. This why Iraqis in general are not fond of Lebs. I have talked to a lot of them and they tell me, that Lebs view them as enemies and not brothers. I certainly don't know why this animosity exist between these people. Iraqis tend to proud themselves on Arabian blood this could be of the reasons why. |

Hell I don't know, I'm not privy to any sort of old world Lebanon shit. As a westerner you could see though why I would choose to associate myself more with the Greek side of the Med. Plus it was upbringing too. My family always distanced themselves from the arab moniker and assimilated well. I don't know about this feud going on but it sounds like bullshit to me. I don't see why there has to be an sort of superiority complex there. Where do these Iraqis experience this? In Lebanon? Or in communities abroad? |

Not really, the feud does exist in both the old world and the new world. Most Iraqis seem to have dislike of Lebs, and the same is true of Lebs who dislike of Arab. They experience mostly in North America mostly. Though the dislike does seem to be rooted in the old world. Yes I do see that. I can see why Iraqis don't want to relate themselves to Levantines or other Semites based on culture and to lesser extent genes. |

Yeah a lot of Iraqis told me that Lebanese are racist and usually pick on them. The women seem to dislike Lebanese men very much since they whistle and hollar at them. I guess they are the most racist nationality in the Middle East. I mean the Iraqis had enough, as Vietnamese I do have some sympathy with the Iraqi people. I heard of the Lebanese who treat Asians and others badly. |
