Thanks for dug up this old thread; it is interesting that everyone seem to only mention teenage hobbies where there are many hobbies that many Thai adults passionate about as well. I won't talk about watching TV, reading books or something ordinary like that though.

First obvious one is collecting amulets or พระเครื่อง (http://www.thai2english.com/dictionary/29395.html)

Then there is raising zebra dove or นกเขาชวา [http://www.nokkaochava.com/] There are serious competitions about this, similar to we have Crufts for dogs in UK. It is mostly be seen in the south.

And how about gardening - ok! that sounds ordinary, right? yes there is people who have ordinary gardening as a hobby; trimming shrub, growing all kinds of flowers or potted-plant. However, there are also lots of people who do have special interest in specific kinds of plants for example orchids and ว่าน

and even though I don't like them since they are cruel IMO there are ปลากัด and ไก่ชน [ http://www.gaichon.com/main/ ]

If you are talking about teenagers, then our students like reading cartoon books, playing sports such as badminton, football and basketball, playing with dolls, playing computer and video games, collecting stamps and listening to the radio.

Actually, I haven't seen any pool or bowling places in BKK. I did see them in other cities though.
Bangkok has some great bowling allies. All the good ones I've been too have been up high 7 floors or so off the ground. Just as good as any bowling allies in the world.

Pool I haven't seen many good halls, I know they are there but I just haven't gone seeking them. I hear a lot about the halls set up for farangs but I never went. I've seen pool halls but not on the competitive level that I am used to.

As for hobbies, playing video games, modifying mobile phones, and drinking are probably the most common. If it's sporting hobbies, badminton, soccer, that wicker hackey sack game and now even basketball. Basketball is catching on and the Thais like it although they are not that good yet.

I also noticed that playing games through the Internet is becoming more popular. I saw many teenagers playing games in the so called Internet cafes.
