I have bags for my bogu, shinai, and iaito all from Bujin. I had good experiences with the company when I was doing aikido, so when I needed bags for kendo and iaido I gave them my business. The bogu and shinai bags have been to Japan and back and held up well.
They are a bit pricey, but I think they're worth it. The design of the shinai bukuro is a bit odd, but works quite well when having to check it as luggage. |

Olaf: I have both non-padded versions of the cordura and ballistic bogu bags in regular and large sizes.
I kind of wish that I bought the padded version. Not because it protects the bogu, but because without the padding, the bag kind of crumples. So when you are at a tournament or another practice and you don't have your bogu inside, the bag just lies on the floor or on the bleachers with people walking or stepping on it...The padded bags retain its shape and remain standing even w/o bogu inside. Therefore, the likelihood that people will step on it are fairly low and also when you need to retrieve something from the side pocket, it's much easier to access. If you get the Bujin bogu bag, you might want to consider getting the padded version. There's one other thing I learned from business travel that I've implemented into Kendo.... The other thing you might want to consider getting is one of the PACK-IT Folders from Eagle Creek. I like to keep my folded hakama in there so that they don't get wrinkled while stored in the bogu bag. Their website can be found at: http://www.eaglecreek.com/packit.htm Regards, amatsuda http://mywebpage.netscape.com/sjkendo |
