I got it at midnight, but having my ikkyu test this morning I didn't start it until 4:30 PM, Harry has just been read the name on the book. I am enjoying it so far.

i didnt think the movies were that bad.....they were certainly better representations of the books than LOTR was.

but yeah the book is out, i posted this as i was getting up after just finishing it( this one took me about 8 hours to read....im starting to get slow in my reading.......)

exchpaypaleg 11-22-2005 07:00 AM

its out already? i should go pick it up tomorrow...

i like to "pretend" that i dont enjoy harry potter anymore but its a great book and it even comes with a terrible movie like all great books!

ohoh! me curious now!
I've finished chapter one!:P
probably gonna read it all night til I fall asleep.
I must say I'm kinda glad it's not 800 pages again, last one was just too full with boring stuff...

how come it pissed you off? or will you spoil it then?

sPncEjF7 02-16-2006 07:00 AM

Doeas anyone else have a first addition copy?

palantownia 02-21-2006 07:00 AM

It was realeased at 11.01 am here in NZ (lucky us), though... I STILL havent got mine yet >.< I thought that if I went, there would be a long queue and I'd probably miss out on lunch and go to kendo on an empty stomach so I decided not to gohttp://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/ermm.gif ...then someone spoiled it for me... by telling me who dies...argh..http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...sappointed.gif

I read the book yesterday and I had the same feeling about the deceased character. Somehow I've got this feeling that he's not really dead. Can't explain why though.

But I loved the book. The only thing I hate about these books is having to wait so long for the next one. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif

Every single person who has bought it has a First Edition copy. The first american edition is (I think) 10.8 million copies, when they run out it will be reprinted and as time passes and if it is necessary it will be edited (new typeset, spelling corrections, a few more sentences here and there)
i actualy saw at least two or three typos lol

WOW, you read it all in one day?? I can do that, but I got stuck doing lots of stuff today. I haven't gotten to open my copy yet. *sniff!* You're so lucky to have the day to sit and read it! Argh, I can't wait to sink my teeth into it! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

I saw weird costumes, but it was mostly the people working at the store.

GreesyBeeva 07-18-2006 07:00 AM

i remember at one of the local middle schools near me forbid kids from bringing harry potter books to school. something about how witchcraft is evil.

BTW i have a theory that the character who "dies" is not dead......once people have got it finished maybe we can have a debate on that idea....
Maybe make a thread for people who have already finished it?
I finished around three hours after my last post in this thread.
BTW I don't think the character's death was that unexpected (if we make another thread we can discuss why) although this was by far the least predictable book of the lot, and currently my favourite.

Yeah and mine had 5-6 pages where the ink was faded. These are actually the marks of a first edition, there are many mistakes.
